Constructing legislative networks in R using incidentally and backbone
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Political network data can often be challenging to collect and clean for analysis. This article demonstrates how the incidentally backbone packages R used together construct networks among legislators in US Congress. These customized focus on a specific chamber (Senate or House of Representatives), session (2003 present), legislation type (bills resolutions), policy area (32 topics). Four detailed examples with replicable code are presented illustrate types insights that obtained using these tools.

Constructing backbone network by using tinker algorithm
Revealing how a biological network is organized to realize its function is one of the main topics in systems biology. The functional backbone network, defined as the primary structure of the biological network, is of great importance in maintaining the main function of the biological network. We propose a new algorithm, the tinker algorithm, to determine this core structure and apply it in the ...
متن کاملConstructing and exploiting an automatically annotated resource of legislative texts
In this paper, we report on the construction of a resource of Swiss legislative texts that is automatically annotated with structural, morphosyntactic and content-related information, and we discuss the exploitation of this resource for the purposes of legislative drafting, legal linguistics and translation and for the evaluation of legislation. Our resource is based on the classified compilati...

متن کاملBNArray: an R package for constructing gene regulatory networks from microarray data by using Bayesian network
UNLABELLED BNArray is a systemized tool developed in R. It facilitates the construction of gene regulatory networks from DNA microarray data by using Bayesian network. Significant sub-modules of regulatory networks with high confidence are reconstructed by using our extended sub-network mining algorithm of directed graphs. BNArray can handle microarray datasets with missing data. To evaluate th...
